These are onions started from seed. This year we are planting two types, a long keeping yellow onion and a Spanish sweet onion. After several years of trial and error we have perfected the technique of growing onions. They are started indoors under lights about a month or so before. Once the weather is better we bring them outside daily to harden off. To protect the seedlings from frost we bring in the onions every evening . By doing this the onions become accustomed to the elements, they do not undergo a stressful shock during planting time.
