Dried Fruit Arrangement

This arrangement is simple to make.    It looks delicious.   You will need the following items.

  • one small urn
  • one Styrofoam ball about twice the size of the urn opening.
  • small to medium stones
  • medium size silk leaves
  • glue and glue gun
  • dried figs, apricots, pineapple, mango, kiwi and dates
  • wrapped chocolate two varieties
  • white and milk chocolate to melt for dipping
  • parchment paper and cooling tray

In a double boiler melt your chocolate and start dipping your fruit.   It looks best only half dipped.    Then place on parchment paper over a drying rack.   The chocolate will dry in a few hours, depending on the humidity in the room.

While the chocolate is drying you can put the stones in the bottom of the urns for weight.    Using the glue gun, glue the silk leaves around the opening of urn.    You can buy the leaves from any dollar store.    Then glue the Styrofoam ball to the opening of the urn.   start placing the dried fruit and candy around the base of the ball.   Use the tooth picks and BBQ spears to poke through the ball.

After one row is complete start with another  item and complete a second row.   Continue all the way to the top of the ball.    Once complete,  finish the top by placing any decoration of your choice on top.    I used decorated streamers but large silk flowers work too.

You may also use small metal cookie cutters to shape the fruit.   The mango is a good one to use.    I pressed birds and dripped them in white chocolate.    They look like doves, after all it is a wedding shower.     I placed the arrangements at the food table but they looked too good to eat.    So I used one for the winner of the clothes pin game and the other went home with the bride.    The winner had 24 clothes pins and she did not cross her legs at all during the shower.   That’s a sacrifice.  Amazing.
